5 Common Mistakes When Preparing Immigration Forms

Many delays in an immigration process don’t come from anything complicated — they come from small details that get overlooked. Here are the most common ones.

1. Incomplete forms

Leaving a field blank, even one that looks optional, can get an application returned or questioned.

2. Names that don’t match

The name on the form must match exactly what appears on the passport and other supporting documents, including accents and the order of last names.

3. Expired documents

A passport, permit, or proof document that’s expired by the submission date is one of the most frequent causes of delay.

4. Low-quality copies

Blurry photos or poorly cropped scans make review harder and can trigger requests for additional evidence.

5. Missing signatures

A form that isn’t signed, or signed in the wrong place, almost always gets sent back.

Checking each of these points before submitting your application significantly reduces the risk of delays. If you’d rather have someone review your full file before you submit it, at Visa Express we prepare and review the documentation with you.
